Summer time ends in Spain on the night into Sunday 25 October. At 03:00 local time the clocks go back to 02:00. Phones and computers do it themselves, but the oven, the car and the clock on the wall are up to you.
What does it mean for the light?
In Madrid, the day before the change the Sun rises at 08:35 and sets at 19:22. The day after, it rises at 07:36 and sets at 18:20. Mornings get lighter, afternoons darker.
Why do we change the clocks?
Summer time was introduced on a large scale during the First World War to save fuel. Today around 70 countries change their clocks twice a year, while most countries in Asia and Africa have given it up or never used it. Researchers disagree on whether it still saves energy.
In the first days after the change, darkness suddenly falls during rush hour. Take extra care around pedestrians and cyclists, and remember your lights.
Skycastor always shows sun and moon times in local time, so you never have to convert them yourself.
